Is 600mm too short for a 2-player 6-button CP?

Hi guys

I have an Electrocoin Goliath cab I'm in the process of MAMEing. I'm making good progress: I'm on the verge of getting my CPO printed and drilling my panel. In testing on my own it seems to play fine but then I tested with a mate running two 7" steering wheels (on the front of the panel rather than the top) and it seemed somewhat cramped, especially with P1 turning right and P2 turning left, so I've gone for one spinner in the middle rather than two either side. Then I got to thinking, if I can't really use two steering wheels can I actually use two joysticks simultaneously comfortably?

Have any of you got panels of this kind of width (600mm) for 2-player 6-button? How do they play in practice? I really want this to work for 2-player fighting games but I'm worried I'm trying too hard to force a 2-player config onto a panel really only wide enough for one player.

Thanks in advance you guys
