  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I have the older ipac and just upgraded my mame system with new motherboard. When I hook up the ipac in usb or ps2 mode.
It just ramdomly starts really quick key presses on all the different keys, it just starts typing letters in windows.Like all the keys are stuck. The Winpac software shows all the repeated key presses.Tired everything turned off the usb 2 controller and usb keyboard support in the bios nothing helps.None of my keys on the contol panel are stuck down. This is the only thing holding me up from getting my mame system running any help would be wonderful.

Hi there!  Sorry about your problem.  I think I might have a solution for you though.  It seems that you've connected the quick connects on the micro switches for the buttons incorrectly.  There's 3 prongs on the micro switch.  one for the ground.  and then one that says NO and one that says NC.  If you connect the wire to the prong labeled NC which is furthest from the ground prong, it will continuously make the connection active until the button is pressed.  So in your case it will keep displaying letters :)  Try connecting to the prongs labeled NO, closest to the ground prong, as this will make the connection not active until the button is pressed.  I hope this solves your problem :)

I had the ipac working with my old computer I never changed anything on the control panel or the ipac I just put in the new motherboard and upgrade the hard drive, then I just plugged in the main cable coming from ipac to ps2 or the usb, then thats when the problem started.

since I never changed anything I checked my switches anyways, all of them are on the prong closest to the ground

Not sure what else the problem could be :(  My suggestion would be to e-mail Andy at ultimarc since it's his product.  You may just need to get a new IPAC and he may be nice enough to give you a free replacement =/  I'd E-mail Andy.

try swapping the switch. leave the wires connected to the IPAC and connect it to a switch that "works" See if that changes anything. I also have some weird thing going on with my coin 1 button. So I am going to try trouble shooting that tomorrow as the weekend is here and I have some time ( I just wired it up last weekend). Also I noticed that i have to press the button twice in order to register a coin. I will find out this weekend what's up!  Good Luck  :)
