CP Progress, check it out.
« on: April 02, 2010, 03:14:40 am »
So ive been following the forums for a while but heres my first post of my CP in progress. i'll be putting on my SF ZERO 3 themed mame cab when its done.

Currently:

- 16mm mdf top, sides and base will be 18mm
- 3mm perspex top
- 3/4 inch Tmolding, offset slot so it sits flush with the perspex top
- 2x pink sanwa jlf's top mounted  :)
- graphic printed on polyester film. (the ---rectal-santizer--- messed up the scale even though i specifically said to print it in original size. Soo annoying. Which is why u can see a bit of black border on the ryu side.)

Got pics from creativeuncut.com after hours of searching. Vectorised them badly in flash with bitmap trace. I couldnt be bothered doing it properly or learning to use illustrator. Zero 3 logo was customised a bit with the purple arrow. Cant remember where i got the original zero and capcom logos from.

When its done:

- 12 x pink sanwa obsn-30's
- 2 x black obsn-30's for pinball flipper buttons
- 4 x black seimitsu 24mm for admin buttons
- 2 x black seimitsu 24mm for start buttons
This selection of buttons is proving to be hard to find in Australia, importing is probably my only choice but will be looking at around 100 AUD .
- encoder from my P.O.S. x-arcade dual tankstick. I would highly recommend against purchasing an x-arcade to anyone. Its an overpriced lump of crap.

more pics when its done.

Looks pretty slick so far. My only issue with it is you've got a manly fighting themed control panel, and your joysticks are pink.

Actually,  I think he's going for the Japanese arcade feel,  and I think they're less particular about the color pink there.  Not 100% on that though.

@OP

I like the Japanese lettering,  but I'm curious,  why the use of Katakana for the word "Game"?  Isn't there a native word for "Game" that would use Kanzi?  Or is the Katakana the norm for arcade games in Japan?  Really interested in the answer,  because my instructors told us that they use Katakana strictly for foreign words(The instructors are Japanese natives,  which is just increasing my confusion),  and now you've given me something interesting to consider.

Very nice work all around,  impressive!

yeah i'm aiming for a bit of a retro japanese feel which is why i picked the pink sticks. Too bad that the cab is a western style upright though.

and LOL @ the japanese writing. It was a matter of time before i got caught out on that. I dont know japanese, i just used the google translator. I was gonna get one of my classmates to check over it but couldnt be bothered in the end and just got it printed.

Hirigana... It is a japanese word for game since this is what is used (sort of like american cursive)
Katakana is used for foreign words
Kanji is the 'symbol' alphabet
:D

I'm not trying to be the grammar police...
But I always thought it was a bit odd to have 3 alphabets for a culture

Either way, I like it. I don't think colors have to be primary or secondary colors only. pink, purple, flourescent brown? don't matter to me if it looks good. And I think it looks good.

I maybe would have made that huge logo a little smaller though.
