rapid fire buttons?
« on: March 21, 2010, 03:07:46 pm »
Does any body know of a button that can be set to rapid fire mode, or a way to do it? i would like to mod a 1943 so you dont have to keep mashing the button down.

Sorry ... was taking the piss out of you a bit there.

Leafs are the best button to use for rapid fire, but you still need to push the button rapidly.

Leaf switches trigger with less effort and less travel. You'd be able to rapid fire them easier than with a microswitch.

Yeah, you would still have to work those fingers, but that is where the "man up" factor comes in. :P

EDIT: My idea would not work.

Probably should go with a little IC to do the job for you.

If you do want a hardware solution there is some ongoing discussion [here].

This is one solution from the thread:

Quote
The orange wires have spade connectors on the ends and attach in series to the required buttons (max 2)

The green wire connects to GND, and the black wire (not needed) is a longer GND wire.

Pot adjustment ranges from always on to around 30Hz.

this is actually a conversion cabinet with the pcb and monitor and all the other parts still in place. Its not running mame so keyboard configs will def. not work.

The circuit I posted above will work for you then. I am going to be using it with PCBs.

I am still running 110 with mame32FX

try your version with the FX os and see if it is available then.

I use it becuase it balance's all the volume's out.

I hated it when one game you have to crank it up just to barely hear it and then when you start another game it sounded like the speakers were going to blow becuase it was up to high from the last one.

this way you set it where you want it and get the same volume level for all games wich is much nicer plus you dont have to keep farting with volume control all the time..
