Installing the groovy game gear spinner when...
« on: March 19, 2010, 03:09:54 pm »
My cab already has a spinner. I like the groovy game gear option of adding a steering wheel to it. I'm wondering if I already have a spinner, will the groovy game gear one simply replace mine? Are the drill holes and wiring universal for spinners?

If you're talking about the turbo twist spinners ... I'm pretty sure they fit into a standard --button-- hole, not a spinner hole.  So, to get what you'd want I think you'd have to do a little drilling.  Which, by all means, is a lot easier to do than shrinking holes.

The spinner shaft diameter is the important part.

The TT mounts in a button hole, so shaft size isn't relevant.

Seriously though, you will need to enlarge the hole to 1 1/8" to accommodate the TT spinner. Easy!

Haha that was a good one. If I had seen this yesterday I would have said the same thing. Perverted minds think alike.  :lol

I believe I read somewhere that RandyT will only sell the steering wheel add on "only if" you have or have purchased a Turbo Twist in the past.  The reason might be people criticizing the usability of the steering wheels based on an unintended combo, without even mentioning the hardware it was designed for.  You might want to ask him directly to confirm this and to see if it would work for your existing spinner.

Yes this is the case, but at the end of the day criticism will come whether you try and restrict it or not. He may as well sell a few more wheels and let the spin doctors work, at least he gets paid. I tried to protect our machines by making the software installation hardware-specific, yet I've still read boards where our perfectly-working setup has been ripped from one of our cabinets and moved to another system, then criticised for not working properly. The cheek comes when we then get e-mails for support!
