Noisy Hard Drive
« on: March 12, 2010, 05:51:23 pm »
So my mame cab has a very noisy hard drive, I think. It could be the cpu fan but I think it's the hard drive. What would be the best option to replace it with? Are all hard drives noisy or just older ones? Can I easily/cheaply replace it? I Have a 500g external drive, but I'm hesitant to leave it on all the time. I'd probably need about 500g of space to be safe, any recommendations?

Thanks

Hewskie

If it is noisy get rid of it before it dies. If your hardware supports SATA get a 500 GB 3.5 inch drive.   Seems to be the sweet point right now.

Absolutely - the next step is a head crash. Funny Bob would mention a 500GB SATA hard drive - I just bought one to put in my cab last week! (Finally going to play around with the CHD games since some seem to be playable with decent hardware)
