Buyer's Remorse (Anybody need a joystick?)
« on: July 27, 2003, 09:47:00 pm »
Well I just won an Ebay auction for a buttload of various leaf switch joysticks and parts. I'm never going to need them. In fact, I most wanted a red ball-top shaft I saw in the lot. I don't have plans for the rest as of yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one may be a 4-way but I don't really know for sure. I won't find out til they get here,

So... anybody need a leaf switch ball-top joystick???

If it can mount to an oscar mounting plate, I might be interested. Can always make it a 4-way. Send a pic when you get them.

Well here's a picture of the auction I just won. It's not a very good one. I'll take better pictures when I get them in the mail.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3234518373

The joys in the front look admittedly fugly (I don't like the plastic molded rods), but the ball-tops in the back look nice.

I'd been watching that auction too...
I figured it was too much to mess with at this point in my project.
But I might be interested in on of the metal shaft sticks if they
are in good shape. Can't wait to see more picks.
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...

Sure thing. I'll never use it. I'll be getting a bajillion bases, too. So if I find that the base for the green ball top sucks I'll give you a better one.

The same goes for any of the other joysticks if anyone else is interested.

Some of them appear to be Wico's. Those should fit an Oscar mounting plate well.

See the black one top center. I could use that one. It is the proper stick for a Time Pilot cocktail, and I am still in need of a player 2 stick for mine.

Please msg me a total with shipping to St. Louis, MO (63031). Thanks. What the heck, include another stick and an extra base in that total as well.

Sure thing. That's not a problem. I'llr eserve that one for you. However, I will tell you (and post here for everyone else to see) the same thing that I've told other interested people in PM's.

Since I haven't received them yet I can't give you a quote. I can't varify the condition they are in yet so I can't give you a solid number. As far as I know, this guy hasn't even sent them to me yet. (He's very bad with the communication.)

However, consider those 2 sticks to have your names on them.

Oh one other thing, paige. Which other one do you want? Still go one black shiny one in the front, one matte finish one in the front, and the blue in the back unclaimed.

I'm saving 2 of the matte finished sticks in the front for people who showed interest, but didn't specify which stick.

As for TheTick, do you want me to reserve one or 2 for you after all?

To everybody, I'll likely have no use for these bases since all the joys I have right now are complete (except one). I'll give away an extra base free to anyone who orders (if you want it).

The blue one would be fine... the low profile will work if I ever actually construct my mini. Of course if you decide to order the pac reunion, I'd be happy to take the red one off your hands  ;)

Whether or not that red one is useful to me depends heavily on the quality of the ball and whether or not there is a 4-way base in the bunch. But the blue is yours.

I don't really care what the other stick is, just as long as I get that shiny black balltop monroe (Time Pilot) one (top centerish, facing more towards the camera than the others, with the visible rust on it, 4th from the left). The second one from the left in the top row might also be a matching one, and if it is, then I want that one too. Since I imagine they will be all mixed up when you get them. Just remember that Monroe sticks have shiny black balls, and THICK metal sticks (often rusted), and the bases are often metal and bronze in color (but not always, may be plastic, they vary).

As for bases, a Wico base or two would be nice (I have several of those sticks installed in my various games already). Wico bases are easy to spot because the leaf switch plate is offset at an angle. 4 of those bases out of the six appear to be Wico.

Well, paige, from the looks of it the 3 in the top left are all the same except for color. That second one you mentioned is the blue one already reserved by TheTick. You'll have to take one from the front row. Those all seem to be about the same except one is shiny.

OH! One other note... I received an old-fashioned perfect 360 not too long ago, and the handle is different on that one. It fits Wico bases, but the top looks like s hiny version of the Happs super. It's really quite different. If anyone would rather have that shaft on their joystick just let me know. It would probably be pretty hard to match, though. I haven't seen many others around like it. So if you're looking for a second one... good luck.

Oh. It was hard to tell on this work computer (it has screen burn, and bad contrast, color and brightness). If that second one I mentioned is blue, then it obviously isn't a match for the Monroe one I was talking about. In that case I would be up for the Monroe one I mentioned, and a pair of them long handled ones at the bottom, and a spare wico base. (3 sticks, and one spare base altogether). I don't really mind if the long handled ones match each other. From careful reading of this thread it appeared that you had a pair of them unclaimed, so I will just buy them both. I'll also buy any uncaimed bases too (if you prefer leaf joys like I do, then you can never have too many bases).

To recap.

Top row, stick number 4 (the Monroe/Time Pilot one).
2 sticks from the bottom row (the long handled ones)
Any and all unclaimed bases.

Ok, paigeoliver. Consider it done.

Ok well I think that pretty much closes this up. There are no more joysticks. They are all reserved. As soon as they come in I'll check on 'em and get back to yall.

Sorry it's been so long since following up on this whole thing. I've been busier than ever lately. Last week I had to write a 60 page paper for my management class. Now that's out of the way, though, and back to this thread.

I'm sending out quotes to all the people that mentioned interest in these joysticks. You'll receive them as PM's. Again, I apologize for the delay.

OK, everything is boxed and ready to ship. I'm sending quotes to corresponding buyers.

Reserved joysticks are as follows:

paigeoliver:
1 Monroe (black)
2 matte black balltop joysticks
1 leafswitch base

Aceldamor:
1 green balltop joystick
1 leafswitch base

TheTick:
1 blue balltop joystick
1 red balltop joystick
1 leafswitch base

Anything left from the picture is available. This includes a matte black balltop joystick, a shiny black balltop joystick, and several bases.

For this I listed above, I'm sending you PM's with quotes. If you have questions just PM me or post here.

P.S. Sorry this took so long!

That's fine. You can have the remaining bases. I think we're gonna need a bigger box. Do realize this will probably increase the shipping price. I'm shipping Priority Mail for all orders.

Thats cool. All of that should fit into a standard priority mail box. So the shipping shouldn't be too high.

The increase in cost wouldn't come from size. It would come from weight. You would be surprised how big of a box you could ship for really cheap if it were just filled with packing peanuts.
