3 Joysticks for one player?
« on: March 06, 2010, 10:55:59 pm »
Ok guys, here is what im trying to do.  Basically I would like to make a CP with 3 different joystick/button setups (A,B,C) for one single player.  I'd like to have a switch select between setups A,B,C.  And I'd like all three joysticks/buttons connected to a single playstation 1 PCB.  I know this isnt complicated, but im a noob.  Can anyone direct me to a device or box that can do this?

Cliffnotes: how can I have an american joystick/button setup and a japanese joystick/button setup connected to a single PCB and have a switch choose between either?

Not sure why you need to wire them all separately, you can connect 3 or more switches to perform the same function...

If you still feel you need to, just use an 3 position switch for the common ground for each set of controls.

just have all the switches in your 1 setup have one ground...all the switches in the 2 setup have another... and 3 have another... all the "+" lines would be joined together so that the up switch from 1/2/3 are all joined together and so on...

then just have a 3 position switch (slide turn whatever) which will have 4 terminals on it...wire the ground to the ps controller to the terminal on the switch and the other three to the other postitions on the switch.

what this will do is connect the ground of the buttons you want to the controller.

you will have to look and see if they are using a common ground or feed...if its ground switch the ground, if it's feed... switch it around and switch the power feed.

ill be nice and draw you a picture with my mad paint skillz yo! (i'm not going to clutter up the pic with ALL the wires but you get the right idea from it)

I'm curious as to what configurations you are after?  Would you be able to share that info with us?
