I'm about to install my new control panel latches but I started having doubts about how to do this correctly. The latches where purchased at Bob Robert's... standard latches with strong/thick spring coil.
Clearly, if I don't place the 2 parts of a latch at the right distance, they will either not latch with enough pressure (if they're too close) or they will not latch at all ( if too separated).
So, what is the method to do this correctly? I figured I could put them in place, *slightly* separate them, and then mark the holes. This, to ensure a strong pressured latch. Is this the right way?

Also, how are you guys attaching the latch on the top of your panel? Just screwing it in? Seems like the latche's pressure could separate the whole thing. I'm thinking of applying some strong glue too.
