Mala Tree not finding layout
« on: February 25, 2010, 03:46:03 am »
As the title says I can't figure out how to get the Mala Tree tool to recognize my layout. I'm using v549e which is one of the ones on the malafe.net site, the layout is recognised in the Mala options-GUI-Layout (as 1024 x 768 and 640 x 768) and seems to be working fine normally but when I start up the Mala Tree tool only the standard layout is an option in the layout tab?

I've been rereading all the walkthroughs and I think I have it all where it should be (like I said it works fine without the tree) so any suggestions would be great.

That was it, didn't set the directories path in the tree editor.

Thanks

Ok one other question about the tree/layout. I've got everthing else sorted with headings and pics but I can't change the main 'title' from All Games (you can see it in the pic, just), I've changed the main heading in the Mala Tree but that was never All Games to start with and I've changed any file I could find that was All Games?

So can anyone tell me where I should be looking at least? Is it a problem in the Mala Tree or something I should be changing in the Layout  (can't find a All Game file) or even Mame.

I had been trying that with Romlister but it keeps defaulting back to the All Games list, tried renaming it as another list (can't be deleted) and ticking the hide 'all games list' tag.

But now since I tried doing it in malagameslist.exe I've made things worse and now my All Games list only shows 1488 games when it was 6000+  :banghead:

In all the mucking about with games lists I somehow ended up with multiple 'all games' files. I wasn't able to get rid of all the files and get Mala to make a new games list but I have now got one file, unticked the tree and was then able to refresh the main games list but still nothing. Mame is showing all the roms, the Mala directories is to the Mame rom file but Mala is still not finding most of the roms?

Sorry for the multiple posts but I figured out eventually that somehow I had changed the list.xml on the basic configs, so after a couple of hours I'm now back to where I started at least and the main heading doesn't look so bad anymore  :dizzy:.

funny how that is  just make a backup of your mala dir so you can easily fix it next time

Here we go again  :banghead:

What ever I did before is coming back to haunt me again.

I've got a 'all games' playlist that seemes complete and everthing already on gamelists is working but if I try to edit anything I get the message:

Please create the mame main gamelist with Mala first or choose another working directory

I can't get Mala to recognise any new games so does anyone know how I can recreate the main games list, I've been playing with the games list editor for ages now and getting nowhere.

Should have done that ages ago, delete, reinstall in 15 minutes it's working again and I don't have a dozen random files  :-[
