Strange hard drive problem
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:11:43 am »
My cab has been working fine for a few months now. I turned it on last night and windows wouldnt load up. I tried to repair windows but that didnt work. Ive just removed the hard drive and connected it to my laptop via the USB, It is showing as a 10.1MB drive when its actually a 250Gb drive. Whats happened??

I'd say that your MBR is corrupt.

You can fix it using a windows cd/dvd. Choose to boot to the "repair console" (or similar name)
Then you can run FixMBR.exe

More info here (microsoft site) --> http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/bootcons_fixmbr.mspx?mfr=true

I think ive fixed it. It had somehow become FAT. I used partition doctor and all the files and folders are showing up, It is showing its proper size now. Just running a Disk Check to see if the hard drive is actually ok
