MAMEWORLD down again?
« on: February 21, 2010, 11:47:59 am »
Just clicked in to see the current news and it looks like there are offline again - this time suspended.

I wonder what is the deal this time?
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

Man. There was a long period where that place was down so much that I just gave up and forgot about it. They totally need a new host, or something.
I miss Retroblast :(

That's what happens when you don't pay the bills.

It's somewhat ironic that one of the reasons they always wanted to move away from their old hosting is because the guy in charge of the dns for that collection of sites always forgot to pay the bills and renew too.

I am surprised their advertisers haven't pulled out yet tho, I was under the impression they were only willing to advertise on the site as long as it was kept clean of adult content, and there is *always* adult content on the looney bin forum (in addition to racial hatred, bigotry and bad language on an unprecedented level)

Well it could be the the advertisers can't even FIND the looney bin.  Don't get me wrong, I loves me some mameworld (mostly for the sites they host though), but at this point there are so many links on the main page and some of them so poorly labeled, that it is really hard to find anything unless you know exactly what you are looking for.  I think they might be overstretched in terms of hosting.

No, not related... The HyperSpin and Emumovies server had a bad raid controller and it's been causing stability issues.  So, the server has been taken off line for an upgrade.  The data transfer seems to be taking longer than normal though... Should be back up today sometime.

My goodness down again?  :laugh2:

Considering how much money they collect for PCBs - at least they could secure some cash for the server....

+1

They've gotten worse as of late.  Not sure who's at fault,  but sheesh... SUSPENDED twice now in less than a month.
