TurboTwist 2 Arcade Spinner Control questions
« on: February 20, 2010, 11:36:09 am »
1) At the Optiwiz site, the picture of the Turbo Twist 2 spinner does not show the interface board or show any mounting pictures (which I can find) so I am not sure how the underneath part of the control panel looks when it is mounted.  Does anyone have pictures of how the Turbo Twist 2 spinner is mounted and connected to an Optiwiz?

2) The Optiwiz comes with the following harness options:

   Trackball Cable for Opti-Wiz™ "No-Solder"
Mouse Button Harness for Opti-Wiz, TurboTwist2 and EI Trackball

a) If I wanted to buy a harness to attach my trackball and mouse pushbuttons to my PC then I believe I would need the two harness options listed above .... correct?

b) If I wanted to buy a Turbo Twist 2 spinner and connect that to my PC in addition to my trackball, then would I need to by any additional "third" harness to get it connected to the Optiwiz?

c) What are the ZA/ZB connectors used for on the Optiwiz?  Perhaps this is where the spinner connections go?

d) If I did not want to buy any wiring harnesses at all to connect the trackball and Turbo Twist 2 spinner then can I simply solder wires right to the pins of the Optiwiz instead?  Are there any concerns with doing this?  Which pins do I use to connect the Turbo Twist 2 spinner?

e) Does GGG sell just the 10 pin and 4 pin molex connectors which connect to the OptiWiz so I could connect the wires and crimp terminals myself?  The price of the wiring harnesses are a lot of money in my opinion, but having the proper molex connectors would be nice at a reduced cost.

The turbotwist 2 has its own interface board that connects to your PC using a USB cable.  You don't need the optiwiz with this model.

The Turbo Twist 2 spinner picture at GGG's site shows an interface board with the word "Optiwiz" on the board.   Is this the same interface Optiwiz board which you can buy alone for $14.95 on the site?   I am trying to determine whether the Turbo Twist 2 comes with the same model of Optiwiz I need to use to connect my trackball to my PC.
