Mame Game Controls
« on: July 25, 2003, 03:25:33 pm »
I have a question about the controls for all the mame games... is there a certain layout for the controls..
I made a control board with 6 push buttons for each player but it seem on every game the controls seem diffrent on every game

EX: mortal combat, "1st button HP" "2nd Button LP"..
Then lets say I try X-man vs Streetfighter,
EX: "1st Button HK" "2 button LK"

Do I have to program each game to make it work with the layout I have for my controls..

Thanks for any help that can assist me..

The only games that I've found to work wierd are the Mortal Kombats. Anything that follows JAMMA standard (which is most games) should be pre-set for sure. Anything non-standard was still programmed with using the same several buttons in mind, though. So it should work. I wouldn't know why it's not.

My advice to you would be to erase the configuration file for the controls and let it start from default. Default is great for any joy/button game with the exception of the MK series.

Maybe cause they are using a different number of buttons.

Street Fighter layout
 1 2 3
 4 5 6

Mortal Kombat
 1 2
        5 (block)
 3 4
Mucal invader, is there no end to your oozing?!

That's why I'm sayin MK is just expected to be wierd. Don't know why he would be having troublwe with SF style games, though.

MK2 was better anyways.   :) (I hated that run feature. Mastering a block button was hard enough for this Street Fighter.)
