Hardware acc. Emulators...what specs should the PC be?
« on: June 25, 2007, 10:34:36 am »
Hey all.

I'm thinking about what specs(emulator requirements) we would need for some of the none-mame
emulators.

For example, I want Daytona(Model 2 emulator) to look and run better than it does know. Right
now I have a Radeon 9200 in the machine(I did this to all my normal PC's, passive cooling)

Then I tried the computer downstairs(Geforce MX 440 :)), not better.

Should I get a new GFX for such an emulator? will do it do a difference? And how much do CPU power
matter when there's HW acceleration??

Thanks,

Nicholas

You haven't told us your other system specs, those help too.  Generally speaking a card that'll do directx8 or better (preferably 9) will improve performance, but not THAT much (maybe around 5-10%).  And by "do directx 8" I mean it's fully compliant, not that dx8 doesn't crash on it.  :)

Hey! The PC is around 2.8ghz  AMD with 1 gb ram.

I just remember rading something about emulators like Model 2 not using the GFX very much:)
