Monitor Power Supply Converter
« on: October 16, 2003, 01:57:50 pm »
I have a monitor and wanna convert the power supply thingy. I know that it comes with the one that you plug into like the arcade power supply but is there a converter or something that can make it so I can plug it into my wall socket? ID # 40029 031555. It's a 25" monitor by Midway. Thanx.

I'm not sure what kind of conversion you are trying to do, but...  unless you know for certain that your monitor doesn't need an isolation transformer, don't try to plug it into a wall socket.  That could be bad!  Typically, monitors that don't require an isolation transformer have tags and labels on them that specify that.  It won't hurt a monitor to use an isolation transformer even if it doesn't require one.

You can put a wall socket plug on some lampcord and connect it to an isolation transformer, then connect the iso xformer to the monitor.  See http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/buildit.html for more info.

Try to get your hands on one of these. They are in every old cabinet in ontario canada. I am using this one for my arcade monitor and have used them on my test benches for years. I don't know if they are sold in the USA.
