Yay! Motorfish is back! I'd be happy to host some hi-res pics of the bezel art if you need!

WOW! absolutely amazing work!

you've definitely inspired me!! i was wondering how you designed
the CP overlay to get everything perfectly aligned with your layout,
then i read that you scanned your pre-drilled overlay first, and did the
art around it. sounds like a great idea, but you said you'd do otherwise.
what would you have done instead? i just have no clue how i'd get
everything lined up if the overlay wasn't scanned first.

thanks in advance, and keep up the GREAT work!!

For mine, I designed the control panel layout in Visio at full size, and printed it out and transferred it to the CP for drilling.  Then, I copied the Visio image into Corel Photo-PAINT and built the overlay around it.

I was late to the party and missed all of the postings with shots.
I'd love to see how his cab came out. I've been working on my own cab at bit that's a built out of an empty one. I've got a 27" eygo in there right now. I was lucky that mine came working.

Please update with shots. Check out my site with shots of all of the single sticks and console mods that I did. My latest is the Stealth stick. I think that my control panel will be black similar to the "Stealth" stick that I built for a friend.

Well I'll be putting the control panel graphic, bezel graphics and 3d model of his machine picture into my photo gallery on my website and http://www.loriandgene.com within the next few days. I trust there is no problem with this as he did post them here. If there is any copyright objection then I will not do this.

Just to clearify, the above link has an extra "n" in "and" that needs to be removed.  I'm not sure is Cyberphox did that one purpose or not (ya never know), so I'm not gonna post the fully correct link... people are smart enough to use the delete key. ;)

Also -- Cyberphox:
I look forward to seeing the images you are are going to post -- I've always been bumbed that the CP images here never worked. :(

Plus, could you post links (here or on your webiste) to the sites you refer to in your MAME Cabnit page?  I would like to read more about that multilevel CP that you have an image of!

Anyways..some pictures are being uploaded now into the photo gallery.

The multi-level control panel was taken right from this website's examples pages but the machine is
located at http://www.cybercoma.com/supercade/index.shtml

Hey! Do you think you could get your friend to send you the recompiled mame version that runs kof2002 and metal slug 4? then you could send it to me? I have the roms but can't run them in mame :( THANKS:)

A friend of mine found a way to re-compile MAME so that KOF 2002 and Metal Slug will run. I have no idea how to do this. Try Nebula or NeoRage X emulators as well, to see if it's properly run the Metal Slug 4 ROM.

I love your CPO Motorfish!!  I would like to know if anyone has these graphics files and would email them to me?  I would prefer the original file(s) with the layers intact and not merged please.

Second, can anyone host Motorfish's site?  There have been many, many requests here to have working links, more pix, and more description of the project.  Currently my server is down and has been for months, unfortunately, so I can not offer this service to him.

What in the world is you analog cursor controller???
Where did you get it from?
I'm assuming it just works like one of those "nubs" you'll see on some laptops...

Also...
Did you build those cabs from scratch? The top is bigger than the bot & I don't remember seeing too man cabs like that (I know it's probably to house a bigger monitor, but I still dont' remember seeing any like that)

They look great!!!
Do you have (or plan on having) swappable panels? What's the Trackball overlay all about if not?

Sorry for all the Qs, I'm just a little impressed!

Great work!

Great looking stuff.

However, I hate to be the bearer of bad news (unless this has already been stated, but there appears to be a spelling mistake.

In "Functions of the Emulation Buttons" regarding the Escape key, you have written:

"This button allows the user to exit the game at any time.  Also, it allows the user to exit all TAB an F2 menus."

This should read "...TAB and F2 menus."

Apart from that, it's great.

Both cabinets are pretty awesome, and have been an inspiration to me.

I've noticed that the CP graphics have been copied several times but your original design is still the best IMHO.

There is one thing I would have done differently though. If I had the time and money to build two cabinets I'd try to make them contrast more. For example I'd fit the 'classic' cabinet with Wico balltop leaf joysticks and leaf buttons. You could still keep the same colour scheme as the Wico balltops are available in blue, black, or purple. Also I would have gone for a less cramped two buttons per player layout on the Classic CP as very few games (apart from fighters that can be played on your other cabinet) require more than this.

Don't get me wrong your classic CP looks very cool, it's just that it looks very similar to the CP of your other machine.

Looks like 3 actually.  I spy another cab to the left of the Classic.  Very sexy CPO's.  It would probably take me as long to work on those as to build the whole cabinet.  Nice work.

The cursor control is actually the thumbpad from a Wingman control pad. I mounted the small board which the actual thumbpad is mounted on the the bottom of the inside of the control panel. The rest of the guts of the control panel are simply laid out on the inside of the control panel:

How'd you get the analog stick to work as a mouse in windows?  Is it a driver or something?  I'd really love to know!

I'm referring to this instruction card:

I also hate to point this out, but there's another spelling error.  "Specificly" is actually spelled "Specifically" on the description for your 4-way joystick.  Tats wy eye luv spel chekerz, thayr nevur rong? (I know this sentance is right 'cause my checker told me so!  ;D )

I got a small program off of the internet called Joymouse which will let me use the joystick as a mouse. I have the joystick simply plugged into the USB slot in the PC. It works really well. ^_^

Thanks to everyone who've pointed out the spelling errors in the bezel graphics. I'm going to make new bezels for both machines, and I've decided that I may as well update all of the graphice in the meantime. I'll be applying all of the gramatic and spelling changes to the new graphics.

This I'll proofread them all before I hit the printer!
