Multiple Control Panels, 1 IPAC
« on: November 11, 2004, 07:47:21 am »
Well, I got my IPAC VE in the mail the other day, and decided that I really wanted to have the ability to have multiple control panels, while only using one IPAC.  So I dug around in my box of electronics goodies, and found a few 50 pin male and female dsub connectors.  Here is a picture after soldering some wires:

I then soldered wires to the female dsub, and connected that to the outside of my control panel.  From there I wired the controls using spade connectors and quick disconnects (courtesy of Peale).  :)

Here is the finished (more or less) panel.  I have to add T-molding still.  This is the fighter panel, obviously.  I am gonna create a classics panel with a dedicated 4-way, spinner, trackball, all those goodies.  I am going to  build a DDR pad, so I'm gonna wire that up so it can connect to the IPAC in the same way.

Where did you get the wiring blocks in order to mate two different guages of wire?

I had these on hand, but you can get them (terminal strips) at Radio Shack, or somewhere similar.

The terminal strips came in handy when I was making my one player controller.  It's a USB gamepad hack.
