What could happen in the next 5 years.

Mahjong Panel will overtake joy8way as the most common control used in Mame.

Ultracade encryption/dongle protection will be figured out and will allow users to emulate, emulating games.

Boonga Boonga emulation in Mame .93 will suddenly have people building their own arcade booty.

Mame 1.03 will emulate the entire windows 95 environment to support arcade games that run on windows (plenty of the newer stuff does).

The Cinematronics vector games still won't have sound.

Mame .90 will support all the laserdisc games tha Daphne does, and use the same Mpegs. Mame .91 will change the mpeg format completely (thus requiring everyone to download 90 GB AGAIN).

The price of used DDR and Pump it Up pads will skyrocket when Mame 1.17 comes out with support for both games.

Pac & Pal removed from Mame after Nicola admits "Ok, I just made that one up".

Derby Stadium Owners club (or whatever the name of that 16 player 19 monitor game is) will be emulated with all 19 monitors stretching across a single screen at 6800 x 5600 resolution with 90 percent of that being black space above and below the displays.

All the 90s Taito games will still show as being trackball games, even though they don't use them.

Mame cabinets will overtake Ms. Pac-Man as the single most common arcade game on earth.

Back tot he Future 4 will have a mame machine.  Some kids will say "What?  Emulation?  That's for babies.  I can make that in my sleep."

Mame will emulate over 10,000 games + clones, the non-upx'ed binary will be 100 MBytes big, and the "target system" mame will be optimized for will be a 100 Ghz, 24 GB ram computer running winXPse.

Astroids will have perfect sound emulation, and need a 200 Ghz cpu with 32 GB ram to it.  Derivitives of mame that drop the discreet sound emulation will pop up and go back to the samples, only needing 1 Ghz cpu with 256 MegaBytes ram (most of the memory taken by windows and the mame core).

Those 10 person racing games will be supported, having all players run from the same computer, and will need an estimated 4 Thz cpu to run full speed.

Aaron Giles will come out with mame drivers for winXP and win98se that do not crash as much as winXP itself and have no problems with third party drivers.  Aaron will be heard saying, "I'm having problems figuring out how windows crashes so much, but don't worry, once I do, I'll include it so the drivers are more accurate."  Unlike usual Aaron Giles drivers, this one is not a CPU hog.

arcade ops will realize how dumb it is to buy the board when someone will have a dump of it for them to run machines with, every arcade owner will then use pc's and have massive 30 player mame machines, every arcade machine will be mame standardized, dedicated real arcade games will be a thing of the past, all arcade games will be mame variants, all the dedicated cabs will be worthless.companies will stop creating arcade games since mame has taken over...arcade game companies will go out of bussiness, no new games will be created, a few people will make games specifically for mame with no released board but soon realize they will just be dumped as well, games will stop being made because everyone will dump the new games and companies will only sell one copy, the copy that the nerdy kid bought just so he could say he was the one to dump every fighting game vs lesser fighting games 24. nerdy kid who ruined it all would be hung by a mob of everyone from this message board, burried in a dedicated cab (since they are common now and make good coffins since they are all gutted by scavengers like us, LMFAO)...then kids will end up buying crack or soemthing instead of playing arcade games....the younger generation dies, population dwindles down, the few that do survive end up dieing because they can't handle being the only ones left alive, world ends...wrath is brought down on everyone who supported video games since they destroyed the world...everyone is sent to hell except those who dunno about video games and lived in the backwoods of some 3rd world country, but they end up going to hell anyway...in short we lose video games because of some nerd who has to have the latest game emulated, because of that nerd all video game manufacturers close, and blah blah... you know what i typed, i don't...i'm just randomly typing waiting for the tonight show to come on...and it should be on now so i'm going to go.... hope you enjoyed reading my nonsensical nonsense... hahaha             wtf did I just type? hahahaaaaaaaa

I work tirelessly to build several MAME cabs for myself...as the yeras go on I take great joy in re-doing them from time to time.  One night while trying to beat the Pistons in NBA Jam TE, an artery in my head pops open from the stress and the last words I hear are "oooOOOOHH....BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!!".
