Cost to print a marquee?
« on: June 05, 2003, 05:35:44 pm »
Wondering what I should expect to pay to print a 26.5X6.5  marquee on backlit paper at Kinko's?

Thanks!

Yeah, I'll have to give them a call!   How did you attach your marquee?  Did you put the printed marquee between two pieces of plexi?

Thanks!

I got some special spray glue (Transotype remount) for this - just don't spray to much on the backlitpaper (one breeze is enough) and let it dry approximately 10 seconds before you attach. It's removable, so you have some tries left.

Better don't spray on the glass itself, the glue seems to get more visible this way.

I just finished printing mine at Kinkos. My marquee was 26.5X6.5 also and it cost me $30 to be printed on the backlit paper.  Their price is $20 per square foot for printing on the backlit.  They figured my Marquee out to be 1.5 sq feet total.  So the total came out to $30 bucks,  then there was tax of course

As far as online stores go.  You can try http://www.emdkay.net/

Before I designed my own Marquee, I had emdkay print me out a regular mame marquee and it came out awesome.  It was on ebay an it only cost $15 bucks and then shipping.  I think the total was around 20.  Now he also does custom Marquees to.  You can check him out,  it might end up being cheaper than Kinkos.

I designed my own marquee and had it printed by emdkay.   I did not know what to expect, but it turned out awesome.  The total came out to 24.95 (includes shipping) and it took about a week and a half to get.  I would easily reccommend emdkay.

At kinkos ask about their paper material they use for shadow box's.  It's sort of velum type of material and is perfect for backlighting (since thats obviously what its made for).  It's not 'too' expensive.  Just make sure that when you get it back from them that you don't touch in at all unless you know FOR SURE that it is completely dry or else it will smudge a bit...i know from experience :-(
