Are these wii remotes and nunchucks real or knockoffs ?
« on: January 28, 2010, 07:20:35 am »
Hi guys. I was looking around ebay for some wii remotes and i found this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-BK-Remote-Nunchuck-Controller-Set-For-Nintendo-Wii_W0QQitemZ250569975372QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item3a5722664c

It's says "Brand new, official Nintendo Brand, comes straight from the factory"

The seller also has a 100% positive feedback score. I could use a remote and nunchuck and 30 bucks is alot cheaper than 70. What do you guys think Seems too good to be true to me.  I wouldnt really mind if there fake as long they work well.

Looks official...  At first I was wondering if the big N had made a non-motion plus black silicone jacket but a quick look at there site confirms that they in fact do.

Wii Remote Jacket (black/short)"[/url]

I might just buy a set myself.  I already have 4 Wii remotes but I was thinking that when I get a gun case I might end up leaving a Wii remote in it and this would allow me to continue to play 4 player games without having to remove it.  Also, I've only got 2 nunchucks so this would get me one closer!  @ $22 shipped, even if it is a knockoff you could easily sell it on craigslist (being up front about the knockoffedness of course) for that price or maybe more.

I'd say these have to be knockoffs. I've ordered a similiar set, from DX. The speakers were very tinny, and loud.
The infrared sensors didn't work when the nunchuck were plugged in. I didn't notice that until months after I purchased them that this was the case.
Also the official wii motion plus didn't work with my knockoffs. Mine look and feel very real, but they are not. I just suspect that these are the same.

During the holiday season I was in Toys-R-Us and I saw these on display right next to the white remotes. The boxes and packaging are identical to the white remotes/nunchucks, so I'd go with them being legit. I would have bought them right there to match the black Wii shell I outfitted my Wii with (It looks slick next to my 360 Elite), if I wasn't busy going broke buying gifts for other peoples kids.

I have a set.  They're official or they are the very best knockoffs ever right down to the user manuals.  We have used it with both the white and black Motion Plus.

I think the problem is it's oly $15.99 for a Wiimote AND Nunchuck and he doesn't show you a photo of the REAL product.  That's no photo he took, that's a offical Nintendo promoshot.  You have no idea what he's sending you.

A Wiimote and Nunchuck for $15.99, I'd be hiiiiighly suspicious.

And the fact that it's coming from Hong Kong doesn't help the suspicious factor.  Of course it's only $22, so even if it is a knock-off, it's still a good deal.

Not a chance in hell those are genuine N products.  Not for that price, and not when they're coming from basically China.

Either that or those were stolen or something off a truck.

Here's a random post on another forum from a guy who was told a Wii remote/nunchuck set was real only to find out they were fakes.  The ebay links are all expired but he put up some pics of how close the knockoffs really are.  I have to say that I'm impressed.  I guess I'll steer clear of those "too good to be true" ebay auctions for now...

You might want to look at the stickers on your "real" Wii hardware if you think any of it is coming from Nintendo's headquarters in Washington.  ;)

If it helps, I got mine from Amazon directly, and they are most definitely real.  There ARE official black wiimotes out there.  They were the same price as regular wiimotes, though.

You know what I mean.  I mean from Nintendo's official China factories.  Not Xin Huang Ding Dong's garage factory.

If you're thinking of getting a 5th Wii remote I would recommend waiting a bit.  Nyko already has a very good Wii Remote available that enables digital communication between gun peripherals and the Wii Remote, so when you pull the trigger it doesn't physically touch the Wii Remote's trigger button, it just maps that button to the gun's trigger when the remote is inserted.  You get a much better feel and response this way.  Anyway, it's already a good (and inexpensive) alternative to the official Wii Remote, but they just showed the same product at CES with built-in motion plus.  It's the same size as the original remote, and the people who used it on the floor said it worked great.

Yeah, there are official black Wii remotes.  I recently bought a black Wii remote with black nunchuck bundle from MicroCenter.

I believe that all Nintendo products are made in China now. I haven't seen "Made In Japan" on a Nintendo product for over 10 years.

Anyway, I have 2 sets of these black Wiimote + Nunchuck sets (with black condoms) and They Are Awesome.
They look and work 100% legit. $50 total including shipping from Hong Kong. Arrived in 10 days.
