Resolutions for GENS or KEGA Fusion
« on: January 25, 2010, 03:49:16 pm »
I am trying (and failing) to get either Gens or Kega Fusion running full screen in any res lower than 640 x 480. I'm using an ArcadeVGA with Maximus arcade front end, and everytime I run either of the two it automatically switches to 640 x 480, which I don't want. How do I set it up correctly so that it runs with a proper lower resolution?

Have adjusted config files and don't seem to be getting anywhere  :angry:

Run Fusion from Windows without loading any ROMs. Select the Video menu, and set Full Screen Resolution to 320 x 240. Then you will need to enter full screen mode before you exit, since it remembers the last time you launched. If you are doing this using a monitor that can't display 320x240, then the first time you run Fusion with your Arcade monitor hooked you will need to hit ESC to enter full screen mode.

320 x 240 isnt available as an option from the resolutions menu... the lowest res it will let me choose is 640 x 480. Funnily enough, If I take out my ArcadeVGA and use my regular gfx card with soft15khz, when I run Fusion, 320 x 240 IS available and works great. It just isn' available when I'm using my arcadeVGA? :dizzy:

the reason is ArcadeVGA using 321x240 and not 320x240 as resolution, which cause some emulators to fail. I'm not remember sure why Andy choice to use 321x240 instead of 320x240? The might have a issue to do that "change"....

Interesting. I just downloaded Fusion (v 3.63) from teh internets on my work computer (with no AVGA installed) and the 320x240 resolution is listed in the menu. I have also tried on another computer with an AVGA installed, and was able to use the 320x240 resolution just fine.

I have no idea if this will work, but you could try changing your .ini file. When Fullscreen res is in 320x240, my .ini has the following line:
Code: [Select]
DResolution=240,0,64,1
And when in 640x480, it looks like this:
Code: [Select]
DResolution=224,1,128,2
Also, I downloaded it from here if it makes a difference:

Just downloaded that version, changed the ini file as above, and it still will not give me the option of resolution less than 640 x 480 when using my ArcadeVGA.... only when using my Nvidia card with soft15khz. Oh well.

320x240 don't does not exists on ArcadeVGA and since emulator don't check alternative resolution user can select and use, it fail and hence unavailable.

321x240 exists on ArcadeVGA.

I have never make sure why Andy changed 320x240 to 321x240 as a supported resolution, it might have some driver issue.
