Disc protectors/ cd covers for wii ?
« on: January 25, 2010, 01:56:02 am »
Hi guys. Has anyone ever tried using disc skins on there Wii (or any other cd based) systems ? I wander if its hard on the lens or anything? I have had a game or two with some light scratches and it drives me nuts. Thanks.

I've been wondering if you can use D-skins or not. I have a few and didn't know if they'd feed into the Wii okay or not.

I was thinking of older systems with simple lids. I don't think i'd trust it in the new fangled Wii thingo...

I still wouldn't trust these things in a slot-load drive myself...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

This thread should probably just be merged with the Wii Hard Disk thread.  :)

My only concern is it'd only take ONE screw up for this thing gum up your drive as if you stuffed a fruit rollup inside it.

D-Skins aren't sticky.  No doubt that if one were to come off in the Wii it would not be a fun day but you could possibly even get it out with tweezers as long as the Wii would still be able to eject the disc.

I've tried them in the Wii. I didn't like how it felt at all when the autofeed mechanism pulled the disc. I would not recommend using these things in anything else but a system/device with a tray. The orange rim makes the discs wider. I wouldn't trust these tings anymore than I would trust the stick on labels (I use printable discs myself).
I have an entire spindle of these things, I won't use. I have to dig them up. If anyone wants them, you can have em. Just pay me shipping ($4 or so?). First PM can have them if want.
Besides, these don't fit on my external hard drive, so no use for my Wii.

I'm thinking of it purely for Dreamcast myself. I'm having a hell of a time polishing the scratches out of a disk. If it ever comes good, one of these would be great for preserving all that hard work  :)

I bought this thing a while back and despite the hinge breaking (my fault for trying to remove the lid) and the big price tag I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.  As long as there are no "top side scratches" it can fix the disc!

It's nice to see that it's down from the $140 that I spent on it.  If this one ever stops working I will definitely buy another.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'll be staying away form the disc skins.
