Front End with Mouse Cursor support?
« on: January 23, 2010, 05:37:48 pm »
Hi there.  First post on these forums, and I have a question about the different front-ends.  Simply put, are there any MAME/General Emulator front ends with real mouse cursor support in addition to normal keyboard/joystick?  As in, are there any front-ends that show a mouse cursor and allow me to click on menu items, as opposed to hiding the mouse cursor and having it keyboard and joystick only?

I remember I did designed a Touchscreeen GUI in MultiFE which actuelly works for emulators and mame too... It can also show the mouse pointer.

Some Frontends can also use a mouse as a spinner like scroll, so you can scroll fast up and down.

All Frontends have been of course using keyboard and joystick in mind, but I guess this is for multimedia or such device where you have full access to a mouse (or trackball)?

Simple Touch Front End mightbeen another, but not sure it works with MAME (but should works for all others)?

I mean also I saw a mame plugin to Media Player Center as well, but not sure it touch/mouse freindly or not, its a year ago or such I saw that.
Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

GameEx and Mala do.  I'm 99% sure that Atomic does also.  In fact, I think most newer front ends and the ones being constantly updated all support the mouse.

AtomicFE also supports mouse input. As well as touch screens!

Ah, this is good news.  You guys sussed it out, I'm not making a MAME cabinet, it's an HTPC instead that will run Boxee, emulated games, DOSBox and Doom (my favorite game, it has tons of addon levels so it gets a section all to itself :P)  I decided to sign up here because all the googling about emulator front ends brought me to BYOACWiki.

Thanks for your help.
