Renegade freezes after main screen

Hi,
Renegade was one of my favs during my arcade days.
I am trying to get it working on mame with no luck.
It starts up and then freezes on the first level after the music?
I have tried with a few different versions of mame.
Is it the rom thats at fault or the version of mame?
Has anyeon got this working?
It does the same on the japanese version aswell by the way.

There was an issue some versions ago which was fixed for 0.129.

So, anything 0.124-0.128 would not work properly.  Try a more recent version of MAME.  0.136, for instance, seems to work fine.

Cheers that worked only problem being some other games are not working now...
The VS Super Mario Brothers doesnt work and my 2 yr old is not impressed.
What is the most stable version of mame?
It also seems that Yie Ar Kung Fu has disappeared from my games list since moving to 0.136.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sometimes, as you fix other bugs or work on some drivers - things break:

As for Yie Ar Kung Fu - I have not noticed as any changes to the romset.
There is, however, a noticeable regression in audio though when the clocks were updated which still hasn't been corrected.

Not sure why it would disappear though.  I don't use a MAMEUI, just command line or my own front-end.
