mounting decased 27" tv in arcade - advice

Just need some general advice or maybe some links to get started mounting my TV in my cab.  I have a de-cased Sanyo 26" TV.  I had to take it out of the case for it to fit and tilt properly.  I have a standard build cabinet found in John St. Clair's book.  I have researched how to discharge it safely.  Any other advice to make it electrical and fire safe is welcome.

i assume " standard cabinet "  means classic woody cab and not a plastic or metal one.

- always discharge the tv to be on the safe side.
- make sure the mounting of the tube and chassis is solid and the chassis is well isolated to avoid shortcircuits.
- ground all metal parts like mounting frames etc. tvs in plastic shells usually dont come with extra ground .
- best place for mounting the chassis is like in the original tv , below the tube on a mounting shelf. in case u setup ur screen in  
  vertikal position u can use the inner sides of the cab as a cabshelf. checkout if all the tv wires are long enough , because tv
  manufactures keep the wiring as short as possible. dont change the wiring in any way unless ur a professional .
- if its ur first tv job , taking snapshots or making notes can be useful for the reassembly.
- pay speacial attention to the tube. one moment of disorientation while remounting and ur done with it . sometimes its good 2      
  have some help .
- use a blanket 2 store the tube facedown on the ground . avoid scratches from particles on the floor like screws from the decasing
  procedure.
- i always cut my arcades complete off when leaving the house or the room for more than a few minutes. i dont trust 25+x year old
  tech stuff and i guess it couldnt hurt 2 have a smoke detector in ur rooms . i never heared of setting up a fire with an old cabinet,
  but safety first. i m a muschi .    


btw. i m no electrician nor tv guy .

I hand saw both sides of my TV case to fit in my cab. Then I duck taped the sides so everything is still sealed and keep away from TV electronics. Why dont you do just that ? Was very simple for me...

Good thing. You shouldnt have too much problems. If it is like the TV case I have there is extra room on each sides. This is what I cut. If I remember correctly I didnt had to saw any screw holes so the frame was still solid in place. Go with duct tape to close the sides after that so no dust go in.

I finally got the TV in.  I was worried needlessly.  It is a tight fit, but I got it in without taking it out of the case.  That makes me a lot more comfortable.  I did have to remove my monitor shelf and tilt it back slightly.  I'm just holding it up with 2 sets of shelf brackets.  Another great plus is that the power button can be held down and the TV will turn on when power is given to the plug.  Now I can easily do a 1 button turn on setup with a smart strip.
