Finally, my first cabinet is COMPLETE!!!
« on: January 14, 2010, 09:55:00 pm »
Told the wife a couple months ago that I was gonna build an arcade cabinet, but wasn't gonna do it for a while. Well, I have the patience of a 3 year old and now just 2 months or so later, I GOT ER DONE!!!

Pretty stoked about it too. My son and I have beenplaying it quite a bit during the construction phase so it took a little longer than I had anticipated. Got the bezel finished and mounted tonight and I'm loving it! I think it turned out better than I thought it would from the initial planning stage.

I want to thank those of you who took the time to answer my questions throughout this process, and to those of you whom I "borrowed" ideas from! THANK YOU!!!

It was fun! My next build will be one with an LCD screen to cut back on the mere size of the project, but that is gonna definately be a ways down the road......or so my wife thinks anyway..Mwwwaaaaahahahahaha!!!

Looks great you did a good job. I am finishing off a Golden Tee Complete console. Wish I had a work shop or more room. I would love to build something like that.

This was all done on a small patio and a laundry filled garage. I would have killed for a nice size shop to work out of. It's amazing what you can do even if you don't have the room to do it!

I am working off a small patio. No garage. I think my neighbors already hate me and I have done very little "loud work."

Just used regular plexiglas. painted the backside black to give it the glossy finish on the front. super easy really.

looks very nice. Might I suggest you now take some time and tweak your monitor/TV? You want to adjust the brightness and contrast so the back ground is as black as you can get it without losing the brigntess and clarity of the color.

2 months was longer than you'd expected?  Geez, man!

Nice job, at any rate.  :applaud:

I'll have to see what I can do with the adjustments on the tv. Thanks for the advice!

I may be wrong, but I suspect the brightness/contrast we're seeing in the pics is not accurate.  Depending on your camera settings, taking a photo in a darkened room (with no flash) will cause the shutter to stay open longer, which then causes brighter areas to over-saturate.
