Anyone hear of Paint.NET??
« on: January 14, 2010, 12:39:02 pm »
I was reading a few posts about people using Photoshop to make their images. I think that's good. However, I have found and been using Paint.NET for years. Its FREE and open source. Super easy to use and just as powerful as photoshop. You can find plugins floating around the internet everywhere!!

I use paint.net regularly. Didn't know you could get plugins for it though. I'll have to check that out.

I've read lots of good stuff about Paint.net too, but every time I've tried it, I end up back to use FireWorks and Photoshop.

I don't know, something about they way paint.net works, or it's ui, something, just kinda bugs me, but I've never really been able to put a finger on it.

But hey, if it works for you, go for it! It does seem to have a lot of capability. and the price is right!

I have a vague recollection about some sort of Paint.net program from a long time ago. I thought it was just some kid trying to create a wannabe mspaint clone.

Looks to be a lot more than that now.

But jesus, what's up with that website? Nice to be able to download and see a list of plugins, but there's practically zip on what paint.net does/is. Had to hit up Wikipedia's entry on Paint.net until I realized the true home page is actually at http://www.getpaint.net/

If you want to promote a product, describe it or link back to the core site that does describe it. Geez. Amateurs.  ::)

Woah, it was a replacement for MSPaint.

I kind of like Gimp quite a bit, but it's too painful to use for my fiance. Maybe paint.net encourage her to use something like this.

Its FREE and open source.

It's not classed as Open Source project (at least not anymore). See the blog entry. From what I can tell, the source code hasn't be available since 3.01 or so.

Yes you are correct!! Sorry for the miss-info.. He said he took the source down because he was noticing alot of plagiarized versions of Paint.NET. That's a damn shame!! Awesome product though any which way.
