Major lag in certain Lightgun games
« on: January 11, 2010, 12:50:18 am »
First off let me recommend the Ultimarc Aimtrak to anyone that does not have one (or two)

Now in mame I have the gun working great, but only in some games. For certain games there is MAJOR lag in the input. The games run at full speed but the input is incredibly slow. At first I thought the gun tracking was off but moving it very slowly confirms that it is just lag. The button presses are very laggy as well, almost a full second after trigger pull the shot registers on screen.

So far two games I have tested with are laggy, I'm sure there are others though

Jurassic park (Actually an analog stick game but T2 works fine)
Egg venture (Sounds retarded I know but the screen shot looks so enticing!)

Carnevil, lethal enforcers, area 51, ghost panic run perfectly and at full speed.

I am using a very powerful pc so I know that the system is not causing this lag.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Since the Aimtrak emulates a mouse, do the games experience the same issue with an actual mouse?

Do you have 1 gun hooked up, or two?

Egg Venture (which is awesome btw) works fine on my system, but I'm using guncon's and guncon drivers.  I can't run Carnevil, but Area 51 also runs fine.

Reason I ask is b/c I have a single AimTrak on my system, and Egg Venture, Area 51, T2 all play just fine.
Man, will my cab EVER be finished?

I've got one gun hoooked up for now but I do have two. I'm going to try with a mouse real quick and I'll see how it goes.

Tested egg venture with a mouse with the same problem, although I have noticed that the lag is not permanent, it comes and goes in about 1 second bouts. So about every 6 seconds the lag appears for 1 second. It's playable but incredibly annoying. I am clueless.

Vertical sync was the culprit, I don't know why I had it on in the first place. Thanks guys for the help.
