taito table top,not a restoration but,not realy a project just getting her nice looking as much as i can.this is the original pic that was on ebay:

it had drilled out holes for bigger 1p/2p start (which were illuminated and not matched) and drilled round holes for joysticks that were 8 ways and someone screwed on a modified restrictor to make them 2 way.the other side was worse,it was painted and real mess.

i had to replace both control metal plates for taito originals,i bought dedicated original taito 2 way sticks for a space invader table top and the guy i bought the sticks off sent me the start buttons for postage, they were yellowed and i used fine wet and dry to sand the yellowing off as much as i could.

someone tried to break into it at some stage in its life, look in the pic i post and you will see theres gauges under the money acceptor, they messed up the bottom pretty bad,so me and my mate dropped it as its metal and i banged it out best i could, refitted it.i removed the glass as it was messed up a bit and had home made glitter black paint combo on it.i will buy glass for it when i get off my bum and go to get price as i got another table top also to get one for.

its running moon alien, its great machine, its original bar the locks which are the round type ones,i got 2 7900 taito i might fit them to get it back to more original state.its all taito insides just a bootleg moon alien nichibutsu game.

just something for you to take a gander at i aint gonna mess with it too much, what damage is there i will live with,i just cleaned her up as the table is solid and bar the gauges under coin acceptor its not got any more damage:

needs glass and instruction stickers (perhaps) i aint laquering the glass i will probably go smoked if the price is right.i think its earlier taito, perhaps someone might have more info, there is no plate for manufacturer on it but,it has a moon alien instruction info paper under the lid and a manufacture sticker there also with number.screen burn is realy realy slight, just realy faint grey where high score would be but,its realy unnoticable, even i have to look real good to see it.

i see that it has routed out edge on top like pattern all the way round it and if someone can tell me more about that i would be interested as i cant see anything on net when i google.

thanks.
:)

Nice.  How much did you snag it for, if you don't mind saying?

£220 from a chap in blackpool.he has a shop with quite a few gambling machines and he had like half a dozen or more table tops,i bought it off ebay and this was actualy my second purachase off him,i bought a pacman table also but,its just a generic table top,no specific make but,its actualy quite nice,i got that for £166.

the machines sometimes sell for high amounts and sometimes low, but, mainly the 40 in 1 games jamma seem to sell quite high, but,i seen taito table tops go for in excess of £400,so it was a good purachase.the thing is,the parts that needed sorting were repalcable so i aint exactly had to dismantle stuff where 1 mistake and it could all blow up in your face sort of thing.

i just need to whop a decent glass on it now and i wouldnt mind getting the legs redone at some stage in future.

heres the pacman:

this one had a corner that had a big split down it,i dropped the bottom as i noticed it had bits of the laminate (whatever was covering it) mising, when i dropped it i saw that the corner that was on the same side as the corner that was split was loose,i had to glue it back together then i waited weeks while i searched for a covering, then i saw the melamine in usa so i bought a couple of rolls, cost me just short of £100 all in all,it was £78 to the retailer and fed ex hit me 1 week after delivery with £20 odd bill for customs and handling by post.i reveneered the corners and the edge ofthe lid,i then varnished it.i recovered the whole bottom with melamine, this is just a generic cab so i was not bothered about getting it authentic just get it looking good, its running pacman and the sticks feel realy good as well like they are dedicated 4 ways.i put a better tinted plexi glass in also.
