Fantastic Mr Fox

Damn, this is a great movie! I love the old fashioned stop motion animation. The acting is great. Clooney is perfect as Mr Fox. Suits him to a T. Meryl Streep is good as Mrs Fox. I think she's a better actor than Clooney, so she would have had to adapt to the role a bit more than him. He just had to be himself! The whole thing was snappy and well paced.

About the only thing that lets this down i think is that the Fox family have american accents, while everyone else doesn't. Since it is set in the UK, it seems incongruous. Because of this, occasionally i would find myself imagining Clooney as he really would be, sitting in a booth reading his lines. Dunno why.

I've been wanting to see it, but my local cineplex did not get it.

It's a Wes Anderson film, so I'll buy it on DVD anyway.

Me too.  I never got the chance to see it in theaters cos I was in France when it was released and it was not in theaters for long after I got back.  I was in Salt Lake City for the holidays, where there are a few dollar theaters, but none of them had it yet, though it is now out of the expensive theaters.  I will have to wait for it on DVD.  It's a shame.  I loved the book (and every book by Roald Dahl), and it looks like the film is a tremendous success.  I'd have much rather seen it over Avatar or Princess and the Frog, which I recently saw in theaters.  That's not to say Princess was bad; it was quite good.  It just doesn't look nearly as good as Mr. Fox.

It's funny, i never tend to want to see a movie based on who directs it (except maybe m knight shanana). I had to look on IMDB to see what Anderson had done. I've never seen a complete Anderson movie!

This is why I tend to be surprised when the credits roll "Oh, Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes!"

I DO tend to pick some movies over others according to actors though. But you can't help but notice which actor is in a movie...
