Flip the video.
« on: January 05, 2010, 06:19:20 pm »
Hi I have a cab that has a horizontally mounted monitor with a mirror above.
My question is when converting this cab to Mame/Xbox/PS2 is there a hardware solution to flip the image so it appears correct in the mirror?

Thanks

i bet you find it is all correct when you connect it,the hardware fix for this if needed is reversing each pair of yoke wires
test it first and then get guidence regarding the yoke wires otherwise you may cook the deflection circuit

OK so what you're saying is the monitor is already wired for mirror use.
I aim to try it out soon anyway as I have 4 other cabs to mess around with first.
Thanks

OK so what you're saying is the monitor is already wired for mirror use.

Several factors come into play, how the monitor is mounted, whether the game had dipswitch settings for flip, whether it was hardwire flipped, whether the monitor had been replaced at some point in time, blah, blah, blah.
A few possible combinations of all the above.

Like grantspain said, just set it up and try it and then go from there.
Most likely you will only have to flip one direction, horizontally. (i.e. the picture will be backwards, but not upside down)

It'll be easy enough to do once we know what you are looking at after hooking it up.
