Monitor Confusion
« on: July 22, 2003, 08:46:04 pm »
I've been looking at which monitor I want to buy... Very confused.

I've read that people want the "slower" refresh rate of 15Khz....

but don't most monitors run at 60Hz.... That's a magnitude difference of 24900%. Did a search of the board. Couldn't find anything that specifically addressed this.

Also, my cab is going to be a console/MAME station. (Including PSX & N64) am I better off getting a "real" monitor then an arcade monitor? (to support the higher resolutions) Arcade monitors are cheaper, at least on ebay! I'd rather fake scan lines, then lose the ability to play certain console systems. Please advise!

My games: Tapper, Asteroids, Cocktail-MAME, Tron, ROTJ, Tempest, Star Wars (not working)
My wants: Warlords Cocktail

If your concern is console systems then keep in mind. Arcade monitors run off bascially the same specs as TVs. So consoles should play fine with proper configuration.
