1/4 scale prototype of Mortal Kombat 2 Project
« on: January 01, 2010, 11:40:53 am »
:blah: I built this cardboard prototype of a scaled down Mk2 that I want to build in the spring. The artwork is not perfect and the colors don't match.. like I said its a practice run to see if it is a cool idea. This replica uses exact measurements scaled down to 1/4 of the original size. The real version will have to be at least 3" wider, and a little taller.... maybe a 1/3 mini mame would be more practical. Its only going to be a 1 player obviously due to the size. I got the idea to make it this small from this youtube video.
Im going to use a psone 5" lcd screen and probably everything similar to the above video. Let me know what you guys think.  :dunno

Oh, another mini-cab project!  :applaud:

The only tip I can give you is to build another cardboard model but with the actual hardware you plan to put in the cab: the 5" PSOne LCD, the joystick and buttons you plan to use (MK requires five buttons... you might need to use 24mm buttons instead of the regular 30mm), they do make 24mm ball tops for joysticks too. As for the hardware, at that size I'm thinking mini-ITX motherboard, though you might have something else in mind (console version of MK, perhaps).

I know I'll be watching your project, I like mini-cabs! It's a bigger challenge because of space and size restrictions, but that's what makes it fun!

This is going to be a learning process all the way. I never built a computer from scratch so this should be a cool little project. I will def do what you said about the small buttons, and a test run with all the compenents inside the cardboard model first. Thanks for the input.
