25" tv or 20" computer monitor?
« on: December 27, 2009, 10:05:35 pm »
I am in the process if building a lusid based cabinet and I am ready to mount the monitor and the two options I have on hand right now are right now are a 20" Compaq  crt or a 25" tv. I definitely like the idea of the tv for its size but the major disadvantage to it is that it only has a coaxial input so it will need to go through an s-video to rca adapter and an rca to coaxial adapter (all of witch I have  on hand) and possibly needing to manually turn it on and off (i haven't checked yet)

If all the tv has available is coaxial input then definitely go with the PC monitor.

The PC monitor will have RGB input, which will looks miles better than the coax.

This vote would depend greatly on the TV.  If it had component or at least S-video I'd say go for it.  But larger screens make composite video look worse and worse, if you could only do composite or RF, I'd vote for the PC monitor.

thanks for the replies. I will go with the monitor for now but I will make it easily removable so it could put in something bigger later on.
