Hack for the Chicago Gaming Co. Digital Bubbler 1015
« on: December 16, 2009, 02:20:36 pm »
First, the project isn't the jukebox itself, but in modding a for-sale jukebox to take music from over the net.

I just got a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NJ04PI?ie=UTF8&tag=enterforless-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001NJ04PI (Chicago Gaming Co. Digital Bubbler 1015) Wurlitzer 1015 cabinet all-digital juke.

The machine is nice and solid and looks and operates much like the original (complete with red buttons).

The music is in FLAC format but out-of-the-box you need to rip music CDs using the DVD-ROM drive in it.

I recently went through the pain of figuring out how to transcode my existing MP3s to FLAC and send them to the jukebox over the home network.

Here's the page of instructions:  http://www.fotep.com/hack_digital_bubbler.shtml  It's still a cool project.

I don't know if you visit this forum any more, but thanks for the info. It saved me dozens of hours of effort to get my collection onto my digital bubbler.

The only minor challenge I came across was that only the IP6 address appeared when I ran ifconfig. I ended up using a free port scanner to find the digital bubbler (it is the only device on my network with port 22 open).

Thanks again.
