H Width Adjustment Tool

Is there something I can use as a substitute for a plastic hexagon tool? Will anything plastic work or even something like a Popsicle stick?

alignment tool kits are not hard to find .
a decent set of "diddle sticks" will be worth offsetting the potential aggrevation of improvising   ;)
