Hyperspin - who has more than just MAME up and running?
« on: December 06, 2009, 02:23:42 pm »
It's taken my about 20 hours to effectively get Mame up and running in Hyperspin.  I love the front-end, but am worried about how much longer it's going to take me to get get about 6 emulators running as well.

Anyone here have a bunch of emulators up and running in HS?  How long did it take u?

Surprising,,, figured there would be more Hyperspin folks on this board.  Either it's too new or too difficult to configure yet, maybe I'm not alone.

Why don't you ask this question on the hyperspin board?  You should have more answer.  ;)

20 hours ?? You're not doing something right.... when I first started with HS it took me about 2 hours to get mame running, and that was because I had to update the database - before there were tools to do it for you.

NES took about another hour.

You should post over at our board if you want some help ;)

BBB and me built all the configs for HS. The time it takes for each person is not relevant as diffrent people have more/less understanding of command line and emulation. I can get all the emus setup and running in less than an hour. Hyperlaunch has all the command line paramater built in, you should in theory just have to program your paths.

This assumes your using No-intro named roms and your paths are correct. Id bet a dollar they are not.

Thanks, I've been on the HS board and have tried countless suggestions.  Where I'm really stuck is no No-Intro format I think, but just too tired of trying to run Hyperlists.  I'm going to either need to hire someone to help me config my harddrive correctly, or just install it into my cab to run Mame.  soo frustrating.

I use Hyperspin. I just love it. Here is the list I have configured in my cab...

Mame
NES
SNES
N64
Sega Master System
Sega Genesis
Sega 32X
Sega CD
Sega Gamegear
TurboGrafx
Atari Lynx

Coming Soon

Daphne
Atari 2600
Atari 5200
Atari 7800
Coleco Vision
Sega Dreamcast
Sony Playstaion
Neo-Geo
Neo-Geo Pocket
Game Boy Advance

First let me give a shout out to all the Devs for Hyperspin. What took me the longest time was matching file names to the databases. Hyperspin used no-intro. I have goodsets. Which is not that tough, just time consuming.

What I do suggest, go over to EMU movies and get access to their FTP. They have done a great job on the video snaps. I can't find anywhere else to get HQ .flv movies for hyperspin.

This is what I did...

I used fatmatch to rename all my roms. I used the file names from the wheel packs to do it. Go to hyperspins website and go into the forums and so a search on fatmatch. You will get a lot of info on how to convert file names.

I know some people use hyperlist, but I found (for me) this works out pretty easily.

I mainly just MAME , but I've got that and znes set up.

I will say that HS, while awesome, needs a lot of work on the configuration end.

It's not game EX, but in game ex, you just point it at your emulator exe's and rom locations and it's good. Hopefully we get that kind of user-friendliness in HS soon.
I miss Retroblast :(

Hmmm...that is what you do in Hyperspin. Use HyperHQ to configure everything. Point to the folders were your emu's exe is and roms are. In my humble opinion, once you configure your first EMU the rest are easy.

I never used GameEX. Heard a lot of good things, maybe I will give it a try so I can compare the two.
