I'm in the UK, so on 240 volts 50hz.

Just picked up my first ever video arcade machine, a golden tee diamond edition (made about 1999 i rekon, known to be faulty, seller said it shuts off after a few hours, but sometimes will run all day and night no probs.

it's got a hantarex polo/2 monitor, the 15/25hz auto switching one (actually i think it's auto switching, havent checked)

got it home, plugged it in, started up fine, played the game a little, and i noticed the screen flicker a few times, just a slight jump really, then the monitor turned off, rest of the machine was still on.

of course when i opened the back door, the door switch shut power off, when i held the switch in, game restarted and monitor started straight up,
i put the back door on again, and monitor stayes up for the next hour till i shut it down my self.

when the monitor was shut down, there was no ticking noises to suggest the overheat circuit had triggered, i heard no weird noises before or when it shut down,

wondering if there was a common fault to cause this, or where i should look,
i'm thinking cold solder joint, but could be something failing as it gets hot, but it's a random shut down thing.

sounds like a dry solder joint on the flyback or the flyback shorting, run the machine with the back door off and see what happens-at the point of the screen flicker see if you can spot any arcing from the flyback
