MAMEWAH v0.953b released!
« on: July 20, 2003, 06:47:54 pm »
This version fixes some bugs and adds some nice new features:

MAMEWAH v0.953b (17/07/03)

Bugs Fixed:

Screen Refresh rate changing to 60Hz after exiting MAMEWAH (Windows 2000 & XP) (fixed - at long last!),
Incorrect resolution after executing some wrappers / PC Exe's (fixed),
P2 Start would not show MP3 name during screen-saver, if screen-saver defaulted to 'Blank Screen' due to an error (fixed),
Menu lock sometimes comes on after playing game for no apparent reason (fixed),
Games with empty category would incorrectly appear in (category) filtered list (fixed),
If the '&' character was included in a setting, it would be displayed as "_" in the options menu (fixed),
'Generate Custom List using Filters' menu would sometimes be empty, but with highlight if no filters existed (fixed),
'Generate Custom List using Filters' menu would sometimes contain the 'Display Clones' filter, even if it wasn't possible

Very nice minwah.  Just a heads up to layout designers, read the layouts.txt
file as dirs and names need to be changed for things to work correctly.  .952 layouts
will not work as is and need to be changed a bit. I will probably make the
changes to my layouts and resend them to stuzza.   That ok with you stuzza?

Awesome work! especialy the layout per emulator and the ability to
have multiple no snap images according to artwork #.

very nice! last time i said i dunno how you could improve it any more but
you've done it again. great work man glad to see this front end moving
along nicely and not left for dead =).
keep it up.

You almost got it syxx.... if you want different artwork no-snap images call then

emu?-art?.???

which for emulator 1 artwork #2 would be like... emu1-art2.jpg for example.

if you called it art2.bmp it would get used for art2 in all emus.

if you read the layouts.txt file minwah explains it all there.
good luck

Good stuff Minwah  :D

It will be very interesting to see the layouts that come from using this latest release. Being able to have a layout per emu, opens up all sort of possibilities ...

Cheers

Would you please help withthis issue:

The font is so big that I can only see a couple of characters...

So I go in the "MAMEWAH Layout Designer"...to see that all the fonts are set to "System", size 78 !!
Is that volunteer ?

Thanks

i cant access anything. im gonna try to reinstall the prior version...

oh crap there not for download anymore!

!!Update!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i tried the 0.90 install and it goes through no problem..but i cant get the newest one to work, tried geting the updated vb6 runtime files and still no luck..could you pleae but up the previous beta on your page again so i can install that..right now im outta commision now =( or if you know why im getting this error even that would work, im sure its just some small thing.

Great work Minwah!  I'll have to give this one a shot.

Sure send your new layouts when they are done.  Looks like I'll have to add a new section to the site for 0.953b layouts!

I believe the .LAY files themselves should be OK unchanged (effectively MW now ignores the background image filename).

Of course the images need to be located/named in the new format, but this should be quite straightforward.  It would be good to have a zip file for each layout, which could just be unzipped into the appropriate \Layouts\whatever folder.

Give me a shout if anyone needs any help with this...

This is a language setting related bug - are you Belgian / French / Dutch?  I have nothing against these countries, but MAMEWAH doesn't seem to like them!

I hope to fix this soon, but for now, go into Control Panel > Regional & Language Settings and alter the 'Decimal Symbol' from ',' to '.' - that should do the trick :)

I had a very similar problem at work with an install on 2k, but didn't really figure out the problem.  Let me know if you have any trouble installing it on XP...

As I say, the .LAY files should still work fine.  It would probably be best to update the image filenames to the new standard, since they should still work with the previous versions anyway.  :)

Can't help out on the IPAC thing, but I do have a question.

I realize why you loose your emulator configurations when upgrading, but when I do put this on my cab, will I loose all of my custom lists as well?

It was a royal pain in the --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- to go through 3900+ (full set) roms and pull out 4 custom lists of games that actually get played.

Also, love the layout format now.  I'll be updating my skins today and possibly working on some new ones.

Thx!

You certainly can retain your old custom lists, assuming you've setup your emulators with the same numbers (emu1 etc.).  'EMU?-0.LST' will be over-written when you refresh the list, but this won't cause your custom lists a problem.

the .lay file does work BUT.... with the ability to have the logo 'shrink' it was making the logo pic tiny where it did not in the previous version. I had to expand the box a bit to make it fit.  Other then that, it was the same after the proper name and dir changes.

Aahh, I'd forgot about that.  In order to get the logo to displayed as in previous versions (ie no shrinking/stretching) one of the Logo objects dimensions (width or height) must be exactly the same as the logo images - use the layout designer to adjust this.

This shouldn't be too much work hopefully...

Installed 100% fine on 2000 Pro.  I'll be testing it on XP possibly tonight.  Must be a 98 thing.

installed fine on Xp, must be a win98se bug, strange. oh well i still have my win98 on another partition so i can try out a fix or anything if you do one to see if it works correctly.
