Who has a cab friendly setup for Visual Pinball 9 with MALA?
« on: November 17, 2009, 07:51:11 pm »
Visual Pinball 8 works fine in mala, but Visual Pinball 9 doesn't.  After a Visual Pinball 9 table loads, I get this: (after minimizing the top window, the table works but the dot matrix display is absent)

Upon exiting (using either ESC-Q or ALT-F4) I get this window, which either makes mala either sluggish or completely unresponsive.  I must press ESC for the "starting" box to go away.

For those of you that have it working, what settings are you using?

PS: Visual Pinball 9 works fine outside of mala.  I have messed with settings, file locations, wrappers, reading byoac posts, etc. with no success.

Tables are VP-related. Score displays are VpinMAME-related. Check your paths maybe.

I've checked the paths; I've also tried putting the following line in the command prompt which yields the same results (window on top; no dot matrix display):

C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball 9>VPinball_9_0_2.exe -play -"C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball 9\Tables\Visual Pinball 9\Attack from Mars\AFM_vp9_2.0.vpt"

How can I find what command line parameters I could use with Visual Pinball 9? (other than "-play")

If someone has it working, could you also let me know what version of Visual Pinball 9 that you are using?

Thanks!

OK, looks like all I needed to do was run it in compatibility mode:

Tables now boot without the window and with the dot matrix display present.

Run Windows in compatibility mode, for those not familiar, right?

mmmmm . . . I don't think so, just:

Right click on the VP exe. or the shortcut on your desktop and choose Properties, then compatibility mode and then check the box and choose Windows NT 4.0 (service pack 5)
