EmuMovies Giveaway and Updates 11/08/09-12/06/09
« on: November 09, 2009, 03:56:46 am »
Hey guys,

I wanted to let everyone know that after five years EmuMovies.com finally opened up a dedicated support forum.  We are focusing on collaborating video snap sets and artwork packs to further move along the project.  The forums quietly opened almost a week ago and we are off to a running start.  I finally posted video creation guidelines and a few users are already taking off on completing new sets.

Current "Active" Projects

MAME .135 Video Snap Set (These are fully edited with "normalized audio" transitional fades and a 30% decrease in overall size)(Circo)
PSX Video Snaps (Initial vids complete, one more editing round to go before offical release)(Jochitko, Keno, Circo)
Artwork pack renaming and cleanup(BadSeed)
Download Enhancements and Site Redesign (Badseed, Circo)
Normalizing of all audio across video sets (Circo)
Atari 7800 HiQ Video Snaps (Circo)

To celebrate the opening of the forums we are having a little giveaway for the next 4 weeks:

EmuMovies Forum Grand Opening Giveaway

We hope to build a community interested in having complete artwork packs including video snaps for all emulated systems. As well as discussions and resources for various FE's. We hope everyone will come check us out and for anyone who would like to help out we welcome you to our humble little group.

Hope everyone has fun!

Earlier this year EmuMovies went from shared hosting to a dedicated server. Due to the unexpected growth and populatity of the site we have quickly outgrown our server.

Currently we are running:

Core2Duo 3.0Ghz
250 GB hard drive
2GB Ram
5000 GB Bandwidth
and while I thought we were 100mbs we are only 10

Our new server:

Core2Quad Intel 2.83Ghz
6GB Ram
2 x 750 GB (RAID 1-HW)
9000GB Traffic/Month
100 Mbs Network Speed

This time unlike last time, they are going to move the site and FTP accounts for me so there should be no issues requiring new accounts to be set up like last time. As a team we are extremely excited about this and it should fix all of the minor FTP issues that we have had.

Lastly I want to express a sincere thanks to all of our premium users for getting us to this point, in my opinion running out of resources is not a bad thing, it just shows that this project has true value and validity.
