Is there a way of getting NFL Blitz to run right?
« on: November 07, 2009, 02:29:49 pm »
I have the roms and the CHD files.  But the games run extremely choppy and in slow motion.  I have a 3Ghz processor with 2 gigs of ram. Do I need a faster machine to run the Blitz games, or is it just not possible to play these games right in Mame?

You need a faster pc, Dual core 3ghz or quad core, 64 bit processor, 64bit windows, 64bit mame.
My 800 dollar Dell PC with intel core I7 can play the blitz games. It can even play gaunlet legends at a barable pace.

So it's definitely the pc and not the way mame emulates the rom? That's good to hear.  I was googling that question and all the responses I was reading were saying it's not the pc, it's just that some games don't play well. I noticed those posts were all a couple of years old, so I was hoping it would run on a faster machine.  Thanks for answering so quickly. What other games will only run on a faster machine? It would pain me to use my faster machine for my mame cabinet, just to run Blitz. If a lot of games need the faster machine, I'll bite the bullet. I'm still relatively new to mame, and I'm going through my rom set remeniscing with the oldies still.

You do need to run 64-bit but I also believe even with a Dual Core you need to overclock to about 4 Ghz. There is a post about it on these forums but the search feature here sucks so bad I can never find anything anymore.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You could just use the emulator PSX and run the Playstation version. Works great.

What are the specs on your 800 dollar Dell PC?
