I'd been planning on building a digital jukebox for a while and finally got around to it. Once I had it all built I hired it out for about 8 months and made a fair bit of cash from it.. Then this week there was what is now known as.. "The Incident"...Pictures and details below:

Cut out my two side pieces from MDF sheets. Spaced them apart to get an idea of how wide I wanted it. Measured this then cut my bottom bit to this lenth.

Attached the bottom piece. Now have an idea of width, how it will look etc. All pieces are attached from the inside using L-Brackets.

Cut and attached a few more pieces. At the back I have made a lower back piece and upper back piece, leaving a gap in the middle for a piece I will put on hinges and use as a maintenance door.

Installed the chasing lights which will go to the beat of the music

Laid out the parts to about where they will go on the face piece. (Not actual speakers that will be going in).

The screen and Perspex in the face play which will be later attached to the rest of the jukebox.

The 15” Speakers which I will disassemble and install in the jukebox. The Woofers were originally going to go in the front down the bottom but wouldn’t fit so I ended up putting them in the sides and the tweeters on the front face piece, 3 down each side of the screen.

A close up of the buttons. They will be used as next page, previous page (arrows) and the red buttons are the numbers 0 to 10 to select the song using SK Jukebox. They are wired in using an iPac keyboard encoder.

Then there was "the incident".. The one tip which I don’t think is mentioned enough or at all on this forum is..When moving your jukebox, make sure you strap it on to the trailer tight enough so that it doesn’t bounce out on the highway and scatter into a hundred pieces!!!

But..what can ya do? Currently working on a new one. Touchscreen and a much more mobile design which can travel in the back seat of the car!

Was any of it salvageable?

that stinks. But, you'll likely build it even better next time, so, live and learn.

Yeah a lot of it was salvagable and other parts which I thought were, only worked for a short period of time.. Like the lights which I thought were fine, didnt even blow a globe. I plugged it in they all went fine for about 30 seconds then one blew.. Only a globe though, worth about 5 bucks. And the computer started up and worked for about 5 minutes then the power supply blew (also easily replacable). But the rest of the main parts, other than the box itself and perspex were still good..amp, speakers, keyboard encoder etc. So not too worried. I planned on building another one anyway, this just gives me a bit of motivation to do it.

Yeah thanks, next one is already looking better. I had taken the last one to many places with it strapped down the exact same way but this time it was a fairly long drive on a bumpy road and over time the top strap slowly slipped and loosened until it was nothing but a pile of firewood on the side of the road. haha.
