Anyone else watch V last night?
« on: November 04, 2009, 10:04:54 am »
I checked it out...  I like it so far.

They pretty much jump right in on how the V are out to conquer the world.  I don't remember if it the original started that fast.

Just a warning:

This thread could get post helled or moved to P&R pretty quick if it goes the direction I think it will.

I didnt get a chance to watch it or record it yet, so I'll have to find it online.

The original took some time before they found out the truth.   If I recall correctly, they were showing people why they should be friends, what benefits they brought, etc.

Nope. I answered HarumaN in a PM and I'm leaving it alone here.

Dude everything has the potential of going down PH.  I'll just cut to the chase and kill the thread now.

V is like Nazi Germany.

So??? I brought that up a long time ago, and nothing bad happened. I did derail my own thread though. I don't get it, could someone fill me in. My understanding about this though is they aren't going to focus on this as a theme, rather they are going to focus on....... OHHHHHHH, Ok I think I know what you guys are alluding to now. I do agree that they are moving it along rather fast.

I watch it last night...It was funny because SyFy had the orginal V series playing during the weekend...I had it DVR and me and my wife were watching the orginal beginning before the new series came on...The first 20 min of the old one and the new one are 85% percent word for word the same actual lines...( I thought was creepy cool)...I was at first about ready to say the hell with it when they brought up the idea of universal health care...3/4 of the episode was slow..but what do you expect from the pilot....but then when they had the secret rebels and then the sleeper V cells...I was like HOLY &^&%$!...

It was hard to watch with Scott Wolf...(news reporter) I was expecting the cast of "Party of Five" to pop up...The one  kid who was all excited about the Visitors...( I cant rememeber what show he was on in the past)...but i'm scared hes going to be the same douschebag from the orginal one...( he joined the Vistor Youth Group and sold out the rebellion)...I'm interested to see how the next couple episodes will be like ...if it gets slow...forget it.

I barely remember the originals, but I am very interested in the new series.  The first episode was pretty good.  I will be tuning in.

How long is this series supossed to last?

They are taking a break during the Olympics and it'll be back for 9 more (I think 9) after that.

The show got me wondering if the whole "reptilian" conspiracy theory some morons actually believe, started before or after the original V.

http://www.thewatcherfiles.com/exposing_reptilians.htm

Like maybe they saw the show as a small child, forgot about it, then later "remembered" parts of it as "recovered memories". LOL

I haven't seen it yet, but in the original they were rounding up scientists and other people who were a threat right away.

I like this spoiler feature.

I thought it was OK.  I agree they seem to be moving it along very quickly.  I like the FBI woman actor....dont know her name but she also has a role in Lost...or did.  I think she got killed off or something...damn that show is hard to remember all the crap they have going on.

I thought the health care topic would be the one alluded to by Ginsu, rather than Nazis.

I enjoyed it.

The agent's son is a piss-poor actor though, based on this first episode.  Hopefully he gets better.

Anna needs to be a little hotter though.  Maybe grow out the hair just a bit.  That'd be...just great. :)

Hyper, man this is one time I'll disagree with you - Anna is just fine as she is...man that is a creepy lady.

Thought the first episode was really, really good and can't wait - based on the previews- for the coming weeks. I will definitely be tuning in again.

I'm definitely not a fan of the short, glued-on hair look.  Never have been.  I just think it's one of the most unflattering styles.

Ah :)

I don't know if I'm a fan of her hairstyle or not, but for some reason it seems to work for her...I've tried to envision her with longer locks (perhaps ala Jane Badler of the first V), and it seems that it would hide too much of her face for me....making her a little less creepy.  As I've told friends, you look at this woman and you just KNOW she's hiding stuff from you.

Reading up on it on a critic's page this morning I saw where these first few episodes are set to retell parts 1 and 2 of the original mini-series...with what was "V: The Final Battle" being retold in the spring. This is interesting to me because it makes me think we may see a "revamped" conversion chamber (anybody remember Faye Grant's turn in that thing as Dr. Juliet Parrish? scared hell out of me)....and that alone is enough to keep me coming back for quite a while.
