Sanyo 20 EZV - vertical adjustment
« on: November 02, 2009, 09:07:22 pm »
Hello All !!!
Does anyone know how to adjust a Sanyo 20 EZV Up or Down ( DK ) ? I tried adjusting the VR 403 pot. But it doesnt work. I have also tried adjust the vertical size and well, that only makes it narrow or wide. But its low as you can see in the pictures.. and just slightly off.. (not the top gap)
I have read a couple of forums that say to use a jumper on 3 shiny pins next to the vr403 adjustment pot. So I jumped it with alligator clips from radio shack. Cause mine was missing the jumper.
So I clipped it to the middle pin to the top pin and Nothing.... So I moved to the middle and bottom pin and nothing.. Am I doing something wrong?
The vertical adjustments on the vertical size VR353 and hold are tuned in to get a solid picture..
Any help guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

New to this site..Looking forward to chatting with you guys... Got a couple projects in the garage..
Im starting with the DONKEY KONG.

Ok......I see where you're at now....

You need to adjust the HORIZONTAL adjustments.

"Vertical" is always the short sides of the monitor, "Horizontal is always the long sides of the monitor regardless of how the orientation is.
(your monitor is actually turned sideways so to speak)

For horizontal centering, adjust the H-CENT control (VR352) on the control PCB.

For horizontal width, adjust the horizontal width coil (L453) with a non-metallic (e.g., plastic) allen wrench.

The jumper and VR403 pot are for vertical centering, which is left-right centering on a vertically-oriented monitor like yours. It sounds like you need up-down centering and size adjustment, which is horizontal size and centering on a vertically oriented monitor like yours.

Thanks for the reply ,Kev and Max.
Just so were on the same page on this whole centering drama.. ;) Is this the coil that I need to adjust? (L453)Well, I stuck a allen wrench inside before I knew anything and it was flipping HOT... muy "caliente" I didnt burn my fingers . I did however cry to my girlfriend and she made it alllll better.. :P But... I cant find a plastic allen wrench set , Ive checked LOWES, HOME DEPOT , RADIO SHACK nothing... As you can I jumped it the pin and adjusted the VR403 pot and it barreeelly moves. the H center on the remote board is all the way up as you see in the earlier pictures. I just cant get that picture up or left (horizontally)..
Since the 20 ezv is Vertical monitor arent we dealing with vertical settings to begin with ? Or should we just assume its always Horizontal ?

Yeah.... that's a big no-no.
Only use a metal one in a desperate pinch. (i.e.never)
And if you do only when it's off. Turn it off, adjust, turn it on. Turn it off, adjust, turn it on.
Look for a cheap TV adjusting set of tools. Radio Shack (I know you check there) used to carry them.

Anyways, that coil should only adjust the overall WIDTH.
You definitely need to shift it first.

Or should we just assume its always Horizontal ?

Yes.

Maybe try adjusting the Horizontal Hold just a tad. Sometimes you can get a little shift out of it before it starts rolling. (VR451)

I have tried adjusting the horizontal pot on the main chassis as well as the horizontal pot on the remote board.
I have no luck, some say the adjustment coil will only be for my vertical shift..
grRRRRrrr......lol...
I have also recapped another 20 ezv monitor and it was sweeeeet.Cause before  it was all black(no picture) and after a new cap kit. It was such a sweet monitor. YET it showed the same image, 2 inches to low from the top...?? What the ....
ok So i adjusted it to my best to have a still image before it gets too squiggly and it looks good. I just cant get the image higher.
Is there by any chance a horizontal shift on the Dk board? mmmmm, I can only wonder ??
If ya have any secrets , please share em.  Please see above pics to view monitor....
Thanks all..

Original Donkey Kong game boards have vertical and horizontal picture centering pots on them.
