Keywiz Communication Failure - Win7 - Any ideas?
« on: October 29, 2009, 09:31:05 am »
I have a keywiz eco that I'm hooking up for the first time.  I've read the doc's on groovy game gear but maybe I'm just hooking it up wrong.  I've tried hooking up player 1 button 1 and the ground but I get connect failed.  I currently only have enough connectors to have hooked up player 2's joy, so I've also tried player 2 joy (all 4) 1 button and ground on player 2's side.  No matter what, I get connection failed.  The thing shipped with a ps/2 mouse cord but since this is a keyboard encoder I have it hooked up to the keyboard port.  Any idea what I might be doing wrong?  I've emailed groovy's tech support but haven't gotten a response in 2 days (I know many only do this on the side so I get that).  Anyone running this on windows 7?  What are the minimum connections needed to work?  Any insight is appreciated.

It sounds like you have hooked it up correctly...  the problem may lie in that you are running Windows 7.

Do you have access to a PC that has XP on it?  You might want to try it that way to see if it is a hardware problem (vs a new OS problem).

I am having a similar problem, although mine will connect when i hit upload, it just fails at the connection on start-up.  I would agree for you that Win7 is going to be a problem.  Mine used to work, so i'm thinking i may have damaged it in some way.  I don't know what to do at this point.

If keywiz is software you might want to try to right click the file... go to properties.... compatibility... set it to xp
