Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus
« on: October 29, 2009, 07:31:18 am »

Two words: ACID TRIP!

You can expect that from Terry Gilliam i guess. Except i was probably the only one unaware that it was directed by him until the credits, it had been out of the news for a while...

Stand outs for me were Tom Waits as the Devil. It just makes sense. The moment you see him you just know he's the devil...

And a strange but beautiful actress named Lily Cole. I don't know much about her except that someone told me she' s married to Jack White.

And a whole buncha A-list guys as 'George'. 3 of them to replace Heath. It worked well i think, given the circumstances. They all did well, including Heath Ledger. He certainly wasn't brilliant in it but some of that would come down to not having enough to work with.

Sumptuous CGI. Some of my score is for the CGI alone...

Oh, and a nice little reference to filming location. Someone throws a coin into a hat at one stage. 'Looks like a Looney' I think to myself. Then straight after that I saw the Vancouver city public library (",)

4/5 trips

Quote
my score for recent movies you may have seen:

5/5 - Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max

4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me

4/5 - Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express

3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man

3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,

2.5/5 - Angels and Demons

2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

Yeah, she's a model. Look her up. I've been a fan for a few years. ;D

As for the movie, it's Gilliam, so I want to see it.

I never heard of her, and agree she has an exotic face. In looking her up though, I learned two important things:

1. They're real
2. The carpet does match.

 ;D

Tell me about it. At the beginning of the movie, i felt guilty for perving at her. But later she is undoubtedly a woman...
