questions about using a televsion display in a cab (on/ off?)
« on: October 28, 2009, 03:04:40 pm »
alright, I'm not a complete noob, as that I have been working on this project for the past half a year, but I am finally looking to put it together and one of the biggest conflicts for me has been deciding on exactly what display I want to use.

I am very familar with the options and the pros and cons of each, and and for this cab (my first, I hope to do a fancier less traditional one after), I know I want to go with a television. I have it working, and have had for months.

But it works like a television would. you turn it on or off on the tv or with the remote.

What is the normal procedure for "hardwiring" the actual television power with that of the computer?  If i just leave the tv on with no PC, it reads a constant "s-video" or "video 1" or something like that.

I know they make power strips, but im not very familiar with this stuff.

Anyone have an easy fix or or solution on how to make the television more integral?

Just plug it in what? "THIS ITEM IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE".

Looks like a possibly cheaper alternative to a SmartStrip. Could be nice :)

I think I'm going to go with my insignia 19" for my first cab. I cant really get much more specific than that. Its not an LCD or plasma. its about 4 years old. It has both S video (which is what i use), and  audio video jacks in the front.

I actually really want to finish this one, So I can start on the second, which I have less traditional plans for.

I'd rather not strip the tv down to the tube etc.

I soldered two wires to where the on/off button was, then ran those to a cherry and put a button under the CP (the orange button to the right)

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.
