Completely random - what's with star rankings?

Been here 6 years and just thought I'd ask; what's the deal with the star rankings above our avatars? I'm assuming they're some kind of grade system for mods, but I just wondered, as if they're redundant, can I have some blue ones saint to colour-code  with my logo?  :P :D :laugh:

Then you haven't been looking close enough. Off the top of my head, Saint, SirPeale, and CheffoJeffo have 5 stars. Probably Nivo too. I'm sure I've seen others.

Yeah, you're right..... I spent about 3 minutes browsing for a "star/member relationship" of sorts.

I haven't been concerned with Gold Stars since around Kindergarten.  :lol
(in other words I never really noticed the stars to be honest)

And the admins seem to have blue stars.  ;D

The purple stars are wiki-related dating back to when it was first set up and, yeah, I believe blue are for mods.
